What does a somatic breathwork certification cost and include?
By Konstantin Kaufmann · Reviewed by Katherine Kaufmann, certified NARM practitioner ·
Soma+IQ's breathwork certification costs USD 3,000 for the twelve-week online route1. The four-day in-person route costs USD 4,5002. Both prices are one payment, as shown at checkout on October 9 and 10, 20261, 2. Either route ends with an eight-session practicum before the certificate3.
For comparison: ReWild's self-paced course costs $4974, and Somatic Arts Academy states 25 California CE hours for its two-weekend intensive5.
How do the online and in-person routes differ?
The online program runs twelve weeks, with more than 80 hours of live, mentor-led training3. On October 10, 2026, Soma+IQ listed its next online cohort for October 13, with live calls on Tuesdays at 12 pm Pacific time. Soma+IQ records all calls3.
The in-person route is a four-day certification training3. On October 10, 2026, the checkout offered one date for this year: November 5 to 8 in Marina Del Rey, California. It listed the 2027 dates as "TBD"2.
Soma+IQ describes the in-person route as "Hands-on touch techniques, real-time facilitation practice", where "You practice in a body, beside other practitioners, with live coaching"3. It publishes no hour count for the four days. By our reading, the routes differ in what you practice, not only in the calendar. By our arithmetic at the checkout prices of October 9 and 10, 2026, the in-person route costs USD 1,500 more in tuition, plus travel and a hotel1, 2. The online route has the documented 80+ hours and needs a fixed midday slot every week for three months.
What will I pay in total, with or without a payment plan?
The table uses the prices on Soma+IQ's own checkout pages, checked on October 9 and 10, 2026. Totals are our arithmetic on those prices. The last rows are yours to fill in.
| Cost line | Online, 12 weeks | In person, 4 days | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tuition paid once | USD 3,000 | USD 4,500 | 1, 2 |
| Soma+IQ installment plan, October 10 | 4 x USD 800 = USD 3,200 | 3 x USD 1,500 = USD 4,500 | 1, 2 |
| Same plan, October 9 | 4 x USD 800 = USD 3,200 | 3 x USD 1,500 + USD 250 setup fee = USD 4,750 | 1, 2 |
| Extra cost of the plan over paying once | USD 200 | USD 0 on October 10, USD 250 on October 9 | arithmetic |
| Klarna or Afterpay, 4 to 24 months | total not shown | total not shown | 3 |
| Travel and lodging | your figure | your figure | |
| Time for the eight practicum sessions | your figure | your figure | 3 |
| Your total |
The in-person checkout dropped the USD 250 setup fee between October 9 and October 10, so take a screenshot of the checkout on the day you pay2.
The program page also names Klarna and Afterpay plans of 4 to 24 months, with some restrictions outside the United States3. It does not show the interest or the total for those plans, so get the figure from the lender before you choose it over the in-house plan.
Soma+IQ states a refund window for the online training: "You have the first 3 weeks of online training to experience the program. If you decide it's not a fit, and you've shown up and participated, you can request a full refund."3 Note the condition. A student who skipped the first calls may not qualify.
What practice does certification require?
After the training, certification requires a practicum of eight sessions across 1:1, group, in-person and online formats3. The FAQ asks for at least one session of each kind, and the group session needs two to five people3.
Students partner with fellow students or with certified practitioners from the school's online community3. An online-only student still needs one in-person session3. Decide early who sits in the room with you.
Can I take the training without certifying?
Yes. Soma+IQ states that many people enroll for their own personal process, not certification3. It ties the practicum to certification: "If you do want to certify, the practicum involves 8 sessions"3. Each checkout shows one set of pricing options and no separate price for personal study1, 2. By our reading, the ledger above applies either way.
The checkout itself frames the breathwork as personal growth. Its contraindications section reads: "SBW™ is intended as a personal growth experience and should not be looked upon as a substitute for psychotherapy. It is not appropriate for pregnant women, for persons with cardiovascular problems"1. The full contraindication list is on the checkout page1.
How does Soma+IQ compare with cheaper or CE-bearing programs?
Each row shows what the provider states on its own page, as fetched on October 10, 2026. We have not verified the accreditation or CE claims with an accreditor or a licensing board.
| Program | Format | Price shown | Provider statements | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Soma+IQ online | 12 weeks, 80+ hours, live and mentor-led | USD 3,000 | Eight-session practicum before certification | 1, 3 |
| ReWild Trauma-Aware Functional Breathwork Facilitator Certification | Self-paced, online. Most students finish in 4 to 6 weeks | $497 | Accredited by IPHM. No direct access to the lead teacher. Not a somatic or conscious connected breathwork certification | 4 |
| Somatic Arts Breathwork Facilitator Training (Somatic Arts Academy) | Two-weekend intensive, in person and live on Zoom, with a 3-month mentorship | No tuition on the page | 25 CE hours for four California BBS license types | 5 |
By our arithmetic, ReWild costs about a sixth of the Soma+IQ online tuition1, 4. Its own FAQ, however, says the course "is not a certification in somatic or conscious connected breathwork facilitation"4. It also says the training "does not include direct access to" its founder4. In our reading, the course suits someone who wants functional breathing tools. It does not fit someone who wants live feedback from a teacher, which ReWild says the course does not include4.
Somatic Arts Academy names a licensing board in its CE statement. It says the course meets "the qualifications for 25 hours of continuing education credit for LMFT's, LCSW's, LPCC's and LEP's as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences"5. We have not confirmed that a BBS-recognized agency approves the course. If you are a California LMFT, LCSW, LPCC or LEP, ask the provider for the approval number before you count the hours. If you hold another license or practice in another state, ask your own board before you count these hours. The page we fetched on October 10, 2026, showed no tuition figure, only an invitation to "Book a Connection Call"5.
Breathwork may also be the wrong first training. For breath as one tool inside a wider method, see Somatic Experiencing training or Hakomi training. You can also compare NARM training. For nervous-system theory, see polyvagal-informed training. If you coach, start with somatic coaching certification. To weigh all of these side by side, read which somatic certification to choose.
Does a breathwork certificate let me practice in my state?
By our reading of the provider pages, Soma+IQ, ReWild and Somatic Arts Academy issue private credentials, and none of them is a state license. A private credential, accredited or not, does not give you state permission to practice or to bill as a licensed provider.
Whether you can offer paid breathwork sessions without a license depends on your state's law. Our state guides quote the statute sections for California, Colorado, New York, Oregon and Washington. If you already hold a license, your own board decides whether breathwork falls within your scope of practice.
If you already hold a somatic training certificate, you can claim a free verified profile on OneSomatic. OneSomatic reviews proof of completed training before it shows a profile as verified.
