What does NARM training cost, and which track can I take?

By Konstantin Kaufmann · Reviewed by Katherine Kaufmann, certified NARM practitioner ·

Spring 2027 NARM-Informed Professional Training costs $1,676 plus a $100 application fee, and the Complex Trauma Training Center's (CTTC) NARM Therapist Training costs $1,350 per module plus a $250 application fee1, 2. If you are not a licensed mental health professional, a mental health graduate student or a clinical intern, the 60-hour NARM-Informed track is the one you can take3.

Disclosure: Katherine Kaufmann, who reviewed this guide, is an assistant trainer at the Complex Trauma Training Center.

NARM here means the NeuroAffective Relational Model. If you searched for "NARM certification" and found the North American Registry of Midwives, that is a different organization, which sets the standard for the Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) credential4.

Which NARM track can I take?

The NARM Training Institute's FAQ gives a direct rule: "If you are not a licensed mental health professional, mental health graduate student or active clinical intern/trainee, you are eligible for the NARM-Informed Professional Training"3. Others "legally permitted to practice psychotherapy (e.g., clergy or psychiatric nurses)" may also apply to the clinical track5.

The Institute describes NARM-Informed as psychoeducational. It states that this training "does not provide clinical assessment training, diagnostic guidance, or scope-of-practice instruction for non-licensed professionals"3.

Licensed clinicians can start with either track3. Plan the order before you pay, though. The FAQ says you cannot transfer from NARM-Informed into the Therapist Training before you complete NARM-Informed3.

The Institute does not run the Therapist Training. In the US, CTTC runs it3.

How do the two tracks compare?

Both tracks as published, checked October 9 and 10, 2026:

The Fall 2026 NARM-Informed cohort still shows its $1,576 price, but its first module ran August 28 to 30, 20261. That cohort is under way, so $1,576 is no longer on offer.

What does each track cost beyond tuition?

For NARM-Informed, each group case consult runs two hours on Zoom, monthly on a Monday8. The Institute sets one price per year: $80 per consult in 2026 and $85 in 20278. A Spring 2027 cohort ends May 23, 2027, so its consults fall in 2027 or later. Four consults at the 2027 price cost 4 x $85 = $340 (our arithmetic)1, 8. The Institute has not published a 2028 price.

For the clinical track, tuition for the four Spring 2027 modules is 4 x $1,350 = $5,400, or 4 x $1,050 = $4,200 at the student and intern rate, plus the $250 fee (our arithmetic)2. Consult fees depend on the provider you book. CTTC's certificate rules, revised in December 2025, list these rates7:

RequirementCreditsPrice, as listed by CTTCSubtotal at listed rates (our arithmetic)
Experiential consults8$125 per consult with an approved provider, $150 per consult with General Faculty$1,000 to $1,200, by our reading of its provider limit that one consult gives one credit
Case consults, at least 4 with CTTC faculty8$125, $150 or $175 per individual consult by provider level; $80 per CTTC group consult; each consult gives 1 credit$640 to $1,400
Active coaching4$80 per person for a monthly CTTC group; $125 to $175 per hour with a provider, split among 2 to 3 people; 2 hours give 1 creditNot computed: CTTC does not list the length of its monthly group

You must also attend at least three of the four modules live. CTTC lets you make up one module by other means that its handbook describes7. Most individual consult fees go "directly to the provider (and not through CTTC)"7. Your mix of providers sets the final consult cost.

CTTC's per-module rates did not change from its Summer 2026 cohort, which also listed $1,350 and $1,050 with a $250 application fee2, 9.

Can you take NARM training online?

Yes. Both US options run live on Zoom on Pacific Time1, 2. NARM-Informed records its lectures and Q&A, but its dyad and small-group exercises "will not be recorded"1. CTTC requires "full, live participation" in the Therapist Training, though its certificate rules let you make up one module2, 7. In Eastern Time, NARM-Informed runs 11:00 am to 5:30 pm and CTTC runs 11:00 am to 6:30 pm (our conversion).

Who should choose a different training?

This section is our view, based on the rules above.

Unlicensed practitioners who want a hands-on somatic method for client work may find NARM-Informed too narrow. The Institute says this track teaches no clinical assessment or scope of practice3. Compare trainings with open entry, such as a somatic coaching certification, in our guide on which somatic certification to choose.

Licensed clinicians who already want NARM in their clinical work get a clear steer. The Institute calls the Therapist Training "the best place to start" for that group3. Expect $1,350 per module and 20 consult credits, against $1,676 and four group consults at $80 to $85 for NARM-Informed2, 7, 8.

Still choosing a method? Compare Somatic Experiencing training and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy training before you decide. Each guide lists that institute's entry rules and costs.

Does NARM offer certification?

No. The Institute "is not an evaluative body and does not offer certification", but it awards Professional Certificates to people who finish a program and its requirements3. CTTC says the same about its track: "You will be issued a training certificate upon completion of all requirements, NOT a certification"2.

Does a NARM certificate let you practice?

No. The Institute calls itself "neither a regulatory nor licensing organization" and says you are "responsible for working under your professional license and within your scope of practice"5. What you may offer without a license depends on your state. Our state guides cover California, Colorado, New York, Oregon and Washington.
