What does Jane App cost for a solo cash-pay practice?

By Konstantin Kaufmann ·

Jane App costs $59 a month on Balance, $79 on Practice and $99 on Thrive for one practitioner, checked on October 29, 20261. A US cash-pay practice also pays 2.85% plus $0.25 on every online card payment, so 20 sessions a month at $160 cost $1,862.40 a year on Balance by our calculation1, 2.

OneSomatic publishes this guide. We took every price from Jane's own pricing page and help guides and did not test the software.

What are Jane's monthly prices?

PlanPriceLimitWhat it adds
Balance$59/month11 practitioner profile, 20 appointments a month1the core features; email reminders, no SMS reminders1, 3
Practice$79/month11 full-time practitioner, unlimited appointments1free SMS reminders where SMS is available1
Thrive$99/month1as Practice1packages and memberships, return visit reminders, waitlist, ratings and reviews1

Every plan includes online booking, 1:1 telehealth, intake forms, charting templates, superbills, invoices and receipts1. So the plan you pay for depends on two questions. How many appointments do you book in a month? And do you sell session packages or memberships?

What does a year of Jane cost a solo cash-pay practice?

Once you take cards, the plan price is the smaller part of the bill. Jane Payments charges 2.85% plus $0.25 per online card payment in the US and has no monthly fee2. On a $160 session that is $4.81: 2.85% of $160 is $4.56, plus $0.252.

The table is our calculation from Jane's prices: 12 months of the plan and card fees for every session at $160, paid online1, 2. It leaves out add-ons, insurance billing and tax.

Plan20 sessions a month60 sessions a month
Balance$1,862.40not possible, the limit is 20 a month1
Practice$2,102.40$4,411.20
Thrive$2,342.40$4,651.20

Card fees alone come to $1,154.40 a year at 20 sessions a month and $3,463.20 at 60. At 60 sessions they cost more than three years of Practice.

If clients pay in person at the Jane Payments Terminal, a $160 payment costs $4.26 instead (2.6% plus $0.10). That saves $132 a year at 20 sessions a month2. The terminal costs $239 plus tax and shipping, and you need it only for in-person card payments2.

To use your own numbers: multiply your session price by 0.0285, add $0.25, and multiply by the sessions you charge in a year. Then add 12 months of the plan.

What happens when you pass 20 appointments on Balance?

Jane checks Balance accounts once a month. If an account goes over 20 appointments or participants, Jane moves it up to Practice and sends a notification3. Practice costs $20 a month more, or $240 a year1.

What counts is broader than one-on-one sessions. Booked and no-show appointments count, and cancelled ones do not3. A group appointment or class counts one appointment per participant3. Jane's pricing page puts it as invoices: you can book sessions that create up to 20 invoices a month1.

So a weekly group of 5 people uses about 22 appointments a month on its own (5 × 52 ÷ 12), which already passes the limit, before any one-on-one work3. If you run a group, plan for Practice.

Which add-ons and fees can come on top?

Two add-ons work on any plan, Balance included. Unlimited AI Scribe costs $15 a month per practitioner who opts in, and every plan gets 5 free notes1. Group Telehealth costs $15 a month per practitioner and fits groups of up to 15 people1. Each adds $180 a year.

Jane Websites costs $59 a month per clinic, which is $708 a year, as much as Balance itself1. Insurance Billing costs $20 a month on Practice and Thrive only, and the clearinghouse account is extra1. A cash-pay practice can leave it off.

Two card details change the yearly total. Jane's processing fees do not include sales tax2. And when you refund a payment, Jane charges no refund fee but keeps the processing fee from the original payment2.

What should you know before you sign up or cancel?

Jane has no free trial. You can book a demo, or use Jane's demo account for as long as you like1. There is no contract or fixed term2.

Jane charges the subscription on the first business day of each month. The partial month in which you sign up lands on your second invoice, so that invoice is higher than usual4. Jane's help center describes your usual monthly total as "after tax", so check your invoice for tax4. You can pay several months ahead, but those payments are not refundable4.

If you leave and still need to open old records, Jane suggests a downgrade to Balance, which keeps full access for one user1. Budget $708 a year for that.

When does another tool cost less?

Stay with Jane if you sell packages or memberships, bill insurance, or plan to add practitioners: those sit on Practice and Thrive1, 3. For one-to-one cash-pay work, compare the yearly totals above with the same math in our SimplePractice pricing guide, and with the tools in our Jane App alternatives guide.
